Experienced investors, is day trading a good idea?

Posted by admin on November 29th, 2008 and filed under day trading rules | 12 Comments »

I just want to hear from serious investors what they think about day trading. I think that it is a bad idea? What are your thoughts? No I don't want to visit any websites to make money for all of the bots that seem to rule this section.
I do think it is a bad idea, but I was wondering what other people thought.

It is a good way to make a small fortune — if you start with a large one.

does one need a license to day trade or buy and sell stocks or call market tops and bottoms?

ive recently come across some good courses in trading buying selling etc and would like to give it a shot i dont trust online e-trades or investment firms and would like to get started as a DIY project any helpful hints

Anyone with a brokerage account can trade as often as they wish. However, since you "dont trust online e-trades or investment firms", you would need to become licensed, bonded, insured, registered, etc. as a stock brokerage firm. This would involve more than most individuals could afford or have the expertise to accomplish.
Almost all brokerages, including the on-line ones, are licensed, and insured. Having traded for a very long time, I have never had a problem with their service or fairness.

What are considered the "best" software programs for day traders?

I am looking (at first) to make up to three trades a week. Starting with a small asset at 5k and looking for only a modest increase of 3% a week.

I know this is a poor answer but I know the info is good…log on to a site called Green on the Screen..read the blog..almost ALL of it…these guys are good and I believe they use " stockfetcher"…and make all sorts of adjustments to screeners.
If you can't get there directly try going to slotmarket.blogspot.com and click on the link to Green that's there.
P.S. If you are going to be a day trader, also listen to the interview with " muddy"…take notes.

What is the best stock screen for day momentum trading?

If one was trying to sell short or be long any stock ie.OTCBB, PK, Nasqd, AMEX, NYSE, or other American listed stock what would be the best screen to use to find the ones under $2.00 in the first stages of a rally for buying or droping quickly to sell short in the first few minuits after trading starts in the morning? Paid for or free does not matter, wich screen is the best? Will it require more than one screen?
And thank you all in advance for your sharing of information.

If you have to ask this type of question on Yahoo! Answers then you are probably not going to have the know-how to day-trade successfully. Why would anyone who had the key to making easy money in the market be on Yahoo! Answers giving away the key to making money.

My recommendation… get a full-time job… save some money in diversified mutual funds and retire early.

    Good luck!
